A Taste of Summer

Happy New Year!

We here at the Market are glad to back.  It has been a long break; Jane had a blast in TX and Catherine spent some great time with her family.  If your holiday traditions are anything like ours, you had plenty of stuffing, ham, pies, gingerbread cookies, more pies, and turkey.  Good thing the holidays only happen once a year!  Now that the New Year has started we have been reminiscing about the good ole days of Summer.

Mostly our minds wander to the lodi peaches from MO.  You remember, the ones that were so sweet and juicy.  The kind that you wish could last year round.  Well, a wise lady and her friends had enough forethought and inspiration to peel, slice, and freeze them!  Meaning that we can have those fresh peaches NOW!  We have tons of quart size freezer bags of fresh frozen peaches.

So after brainstorming on how we could bless all our faithful customers with these peaches we came up with this:  With everything $40 purchase we will give you a free quart of Lodi Peaches!  How does that sounds?  Awesome?!  We will also let you have them for a donation as well.  So Saturday the 7th, come to the Market 9-3 to get all your fresh veggies and some peaches, a taste of the summer!

And if you needed some more inspiration on why you need these Lodi Peaches, here is a recipe for Peach Cobbler.  YUMMY!

More Unique, Local Products Available Five Days a Week!

At the Urban Farms Market, we work hard to bring in fresh, local products at affordable prices every day. Our unique community market format allows us to bring in many of your favorite farmers market standards such as Las Delicias guacamole, pico de gallo and chips, Donnell Farms Beef, Wolf River Honey, farm fresh eggs, and a continually refreshing selection of the best local produce around. But with our broad-based store format, we are also able to go one step beyond a regular farmers market.

Through a lot of research, conversations in the neighborhood, and long drives out to the country we have been able to work with a lot of amazing local producers who aren't able to set up and sell their goods personally - and often they are thrilled to have a venue like the UFM where they can proudly sell their products. One of our many recent additions to the UFM product list is Ipsy's famous soup.  Ipsy makes the soup at Caritas Village and in our neighborhood (and far beyond!), just the smell of her cooking puts a rumble in our tummies. Ipsy's soups are now available at the market every day in the cooler - nutritious, delicious and ready to eat  We consider ourselves food connoisseurs, and this is the good stuff.  And when you eat it you get to rest in satisfaction that you are providing essential support to a rising small business.
